Submit a PowerPoint Presentation of your favorite song (or a song you like to write about in an genre, pop, country, rock, etc.) . Follow these guidelines below for your presentation:
Slide 1: Artist/Composer snapshot in a few sentences describing group or background of artist and picture. LINK TO YOUTUBE OF SONG!
Slide 2: Lyrics/ Genre: General idea of lyrics if there are any. If no lyrics, identify genre and basic info on premier of work (when, where,)
Slide 3: Instrumentation: Instruments/Voices. Types of voices if there are singers. Groups, solo, solo instruments, etc..
Slide 4: Melody: Slide on Melody (range, shape, movement). Does it move in steps or leaps, where is the high point of phrase if words, wide or narrow range, shape.
Slide 5: Rhythm: Can you identify meter (time signature), does it have a busy rhythm, tranquil, long, sustained notes?
Slide 6: Harmony: Is this in a major or minor key. Do you know what key? What instruments provide harmony? In chords or broken chords? Harmony in voices?
Slide 7: Form: (ABA, Modern Verse-Chorus Form, AABA, Multi-movement form like a symphony?, Sonata, etc.)
Slide 8: Tempo (fast, slow) Dynamics (loud, soft)
Slide 9: Texture: What is the prevailing texture of this piece (homophonic, polyphonic, monophonic, or a combination of these three), and does it change at any point?
