Draw from the theoretical and empirical literature covered throughout the Selection and Assessment module to
propose an evidence-based report on how the organisation should proceed with their forthcoming assessment
and selection processes.
Franklin Global Investments is a large international global investment management company. Once a year, the
organisation aims to hire 20 graduates to work in their largest London-based office. Typically, the organisation
attracts 1000-2000 applicants for these positions and the organisation is confident that their recruitment
campaigns are successful at generating a diverse applicant pool. However, for the past few years, theorganisation’s HR personnel and departmental line managers have expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of
their new graduate recruits, posthire. Their performance is sub-optimal, and a number of new hires have
terminated their roles a few months into the post. The HR personnel acknowledge that greater efforts need to
be devoted to their selection and assessment activities to ensure they select the best-fitting candidates. To
date, Franklin Global Investments have relied upon screening application forms and conducting unstructured
interviews with approximately 100 of their ‘best’ applicants before making their final hiring decisions. The
organisation has called upon the assistance of yourself, a selection and assessment specialist, to advise them
on how to address their selection and assessment faults as they prepare for the next round of graduate
selection. It is important that they adhere to the necessary laws and Acts, and do not engage in any activity
that is discriminatory.
Please structure the answer in this way:

different or opposing arguments and/or synthesising different arguments in the literature to support your ideas
and develop well-reasoned arguments of your own.
3. Conclusion: The conclusion should be brief and concise: in this section, please draw together summarise the
main arguments of your analysis and conclude with a finishing remark that clearly answers the question and
summarises your approach to this. While the conclusion should be brief, pay proper attention to this section; it
is extremely important as it brings together the main points of your analysis. The answer should consist of
study, identify and describe the main characteristics in-depth. make a judgement on the strengths and
weaknesses of the arguments for and against something state your views on something, supporting them with
evidence and/or explanations emphasise similarities but don’t forget to mention differences emphasise the
difference, but don’t forget to mention the similarities Criticise – make a judgement about the merit of the
statement Be specific and give the results of your scrutiny outline the main features in an ordered way weigh
up both sides and make a judgement
