Assignment Instructions.
This Library Assignment requires that each student shall research and read four (4) academic, peer
reviewed, scholarly journal articles and write a summary of each academic, peer reviewed, scholarly
journal article. The assigned topic is “Congress of the United States”. Each student shall be introduced to
the library and successful completion of this assignment requires that each student utilize library resources.
B. Each student shall utilize the library at Western Nevada College in order to obtain
access to the four (4) academic, peer reviewed, scholarly journal articles that
each student is required to read and write a summary. Each student shall read
each academic, peer reviewed, scholarly journal article and write a separate
summary for each of the four (4) academic, peer reviewed, scholarly journal
articles. NOTE: Not all academic scholarly journal articles are peer
reviewed.
C. The following types of sources are not considered to be academic, peer reviewed,
scholarly journal article sources:
1. Popular news magazines such as Time, Sports Illustrated and People.
2. Articles from newspapers such a USA Today and Baseball America.

D. This Library Assignment entails academic research and writing; therefore, each
student shall employ the use of a citation in the text of the final work product for
each academic, peer reviewed, scholarly article summary in accordance with the
APA Publication Manual, 6th Edition.
Form of Final Work Product (Library Assignment).
A. The organization of the body of the Library Assignment paper is as follows:
1. Cover page. (1 page)
2. One (1) academic, peer reviewed, scholarly journal article summary on a
page, with a full and complete APA citation at the top of the page. (4 pages)
3. References page. (1 to page)
4. Do not include an Abstract page.
B. It is required that your final work product conform to the following:
Typed and double spaced, using a word processing program on a computer.
12 point font.
One (1) inch margins on each side, top and bottom.

4. Shall contain correct and complete citations in the text of the paper for each
academic, peer reviewed, scholarly journal article summary, employing the
citation form as provided for in the APA Publication Manual, 6th Edition.
5. A References page contained at the end of your final work product. The form
of the References page shall comply with the APA Publication Manual, 6th
Edition.
C. You may organize your work product as you so desire within the limitations set
forth herein.
D. The Library Assignment is due and shall be submitted only via email to the
Instructor as a Word document email attachment on Sunday, December 6,
2020 at 11:59 P.M. Pacific Time. The Instructor shall only accept Word
document email attachments. No other method of submission shall be accepted.
E. NOTE: Late Library Assignment submissions shall be accepted by the Instructor
until December 13, 2020 at 11:59 P.M. Pacific Time and the total possible points
being 60 points. No late Library Assignment submissions shall
be accepted after December 13, 2020 at 11:59 P.M. Pacific Time Late
submission of the Library Assignment shall only be submitted by email to
the Instructor as a Word document email attachment. The Instructor shall
only accept Word document email attachments. No other method submission shall be
accepted.
F. Plagiarism in any form or manner shall constitute cheating.
III. Grading.
The Library Assignment shall be graded on a point basis with the total possible points for this assignment
being 80 pointsYou shall be graded on the basis of the following factors:
Your ability to follow the instructions and directions applicable to this assignment.
The quality and completeness of your academic, peer reviewed, scholarly journal article summaries.
3. The quality, clarity, and completeness of your writing. Although this is not an
English course, grammar and spelling are considered in the grading process.

4. The quality, clarity, and completeness of the substantive content of your final
work product.
5. Your ability to correctly cite an academic, peer reviewed, scholarly journal
article in the text of your final work product, if applicable. Assignments
lacking citations or lacking appropriate and/or sufficient citations, under no
circumstances, shall receive a grade higher than “F”.
6. The proper construction and inclusion of a References page. The failure to
include a References page shall result in a loss of ten (10) points.
7. Your ability to employ the requirements of the APA Publication Manual, 6th
Edition.
