Read an article on Western art or architecture from any period from 1400 to 1900, and provide
a synthesis and thoughtful critique of the article you have selected (no less than three doublespaced pages, and no more than four pages, all typed up).
The article(s) needs to be drawn from a first-rate academic journal, of the order of “Art
Bulletin”, “Art History”, “RES”, “The Oxford Art Journal”, “The Journal of the Warburg and
Courtauld Institutes”, “Gesta”, or “Studies in Iconography” (this is not an exhaustive list), and
can be no more than 30 years old.
