Analytics proof of value project

You are the newly hired head of analy!cs in your company. You are introducing analy!cs to inform the company’s
Corporate Social Responsibility strategy. CSR is the method by which profit-making organiza!ons integrate the
ethical, social, and environmental interests of all stakeholders in their business decisions, opera!ons, and objec!ves.
Details
1. Choose a company from the following list:
3M
BMW
Bosch
IKEA
LG Electronics
Ne”lix
Nike
SAP
Spo!fy
2. Research your organiza!on and describe the organiza!on’s vision, mission and strategy. Describe the
organiza!on’s current CSR strategy based on its most recent sustainability report. Describe how your
company’s CSR strategy contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (No more than 1 page)
3. Use the PESTLE framework that you learned in Strategy and Analy!cs to analyze the environmental factors
that impact the strategy and opera!ons of your chosen company. (No more than 1 page)
4. Based on your PESTLE analysis, describe a project that will demonstrate how analy!cs can help your
company advance its corporate social responsibility strategy. A cri!cal step in the change process is proving
the value that analy!cs can bring. The first project should have a very clear goal and be limited in scope. It
should u!lize exis!ng informa!on, and focus on what is required to prove value in a short period of !me, i.e.
within a few months. It is not the implementa!on of a new CSR ini!a!ve. The value proposi!on should be
clear and visible within the organiza!on, i.e. it should be material. An important component of materiality is
alignment with the vision, mission and CSR strategy of the company. Describe how your analy!cs proposal
aligns with and contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. (No more than 1 page)
5. Not everyone will be suppor!ve of your proposal so it is important to think about different internal
stakeholder groups and their mo!va!ons for suppor!ng or opposing your project. You need to gain
organiza!onal support for your project before you can implement it. What stakeholder groups would support
your proposal? What stakeholder groups would oppose your proposal? Based on your understanding of the
stakeholders and their mo!va!ons for suppor!ng or opposing your project, develop tailored communica!on
plans for each stakeholder group. Which stakeholders (or groups of stakeholders) will you communicate with?
In what sequence? Describe the messages that you will use to persuade each stakeholder or stakeholder
group of the importance and value of the first project. Describe how you will address both the ra!onal and
emo!onal concerns of the different stakeholder groups, and why you think these messages will be effec!ve.
(No more than 2 pages)
6. You need a sponsor for your first project. Because your project is essen!ally a pilot, a leader of a func!on is
the appropriate level of sponsorship; a c-suite execu!ve is not an appropriate sponsor for a pilot project.
Who will you ask to be your sponsor, and what messages you will use to persuade this leader of the
importance and value of the first project to him/her? How will you use analy!cs to inform your sponsor of
the progress of your proof of value project? (No more than 2 pages)
