MODULE 4 Assignment: (Analysis Paper) Overview
THIS ACTIVITY IS REQUIRED TO BE SUBMITTED TO LIVETEXT, AS WELL AS BLACKBOARD.
The student will analyze the student policies of the school, and complete school surveys in addition to interviewing a school administrator regarding student discipline, student policies, community resources, and school security measures. Reflecting on the information gathered as well as personal experiences, incidents or knowledge drawn from the course materials and research, you will write at least a 3 full-page reflection paper on what you have determined to be the top issue of concern that has legal implications for students in your school. Be sure to include a title page and reference page for at least 5 pages. Determine what laws have impacted this issue with references to court cases. Examine state laws applicable to your school and describe what legislation has been enacted in response to school safety. Present recommendations you have for improvement as it relates to school safety to school administration
Instructions
The following is a guideline of what should be included in the ANALYSIS Paper Assignment:
• Introduction including the name of city and state where the school is located, type of school, grade level
• Population and demographics of students
• Description of the community (city, suburb, rural) and services/ agencies available to the school
• Description of who completed school survey and date of interview (please do not use actual names)
• Summary of school surveys and interviews detailed with questions and responses
• Identification of top issue of concern, explaining why selected
• Review of school policies concerning the top issue of concern
• Citing at least 2 appropriate statutory and/or case law and how it relates to the issue of concern
• Description of state laws and legislation enacted in response to school safety
• Conclusion with recommendation(s) of improvement that demonstrates an understanding of the administrators responsibility in school safety
Students should follow APA Publication Manual to prepare the paper. Please use the subheadings for your paper as provided in the rubric. These include:
Introduction and School Data, Community Resources, Survey and Summary of Interview, Top Issue and School Policies, Case and State Laws, Conclusion with Recommendation(s)
The paper should be 3 full pages, double spaced (Times New Roman font, 12 point type, one-inch margins) include a title page, and a reference page with at least 2 references for a total of at least 5 pages in length.
