This essay needs to focus on your own critical interpretation of your text. You will also use three (3) critics’
literary to support your viewpoint. Their approaches can stem from any type of literary theory from historical
to a formalist reading. You, however, should not summarize their thesis. Use their points to support your
claims.
For your analysis, you should discuss a major theme of the text as shown through a literary element, such
as plot, symbolism, setting, or character. Your essay should be analytical, which means it must have an
argument. Therefore, you should think of an analytical question, and use your essay to answer that
question. You need to connect the literary element to one of the themes of your text.
