ABC Book of Pre-calculus Algebra Project
Objective: You need to create a vocabulary book using concepts discussed throughout MAT 171.
Criteria:
• You need to choose 10 letters of the alphabet. For each letter, you will choose a word representing a concept or definition we have discussed in class to represent that letter. Example: A – Asymptote, but do not choose addition since you did not learn how to add in this class. You will then provide the reader with the following information for each chosen word.
1. You will type a concise definition of the word .
2. Provide an example of how we used that concept this semester. An actual problem with its correct solution, typed.
3. A visual representation. If you use a picture from a source, make sure you share the source. You can also draw your own illustration.
• You are going to submit a technology based final product. You may create an animated powerpoint slide show, a movie, or any other type of ‘non-paper’ presentation that you choose. Your presentation must include visuals, and may also include audio.
• You must have a cover page/slide which will include a title, authors, and an illustration. (The illustration may be hand drawn, but everything else must be typed.)
• You will need a table of contents with each letter of the alphabet represented along with its location.
• Once a concept has been used, you cannot use it again. For example: If you use Y – Intercept, you cannot use x-intercept, as one is a subset of the other.
• You will need a Reference (Works Cited) area at the end with all resources used. You must use at least three resources.
• Creativity is a must! Choose words that are somehow connected. For example, concepts from unit 1. The project must have a theme!
• The project should not exceed 30 total pages including the title page, table of contents page, and reference page.
• Plagiarism will result in an automatic 0 and a code of conduct will be filed.
