Present a justified research plan for researching a workplace research topic. You can use EITHER, one of the topics listed below, OR you can generate your
own topic.
This assignment will require the identification of your area of interest (and outline research aims); the philosophical approach you are adopting in this
research; your proposed data collection methods (a maximum of two qualitative data collection methods); intended research participants and method of
analysis. It should include an assessment of any limitations or ethical questions that this research design might raise.
Examples of possible topics:
A study of the implementation of an organisation’s new pay strategy
The effectiveness of anti-bullying policies at work
The uptake of work-life balance policies in organisations
A study of racism in organisations
**A study of women’s careers in a sector / industry of your choice
Experiences of workers in the gig economy
These topics can also be adapted if you wish to enable a closer focus on an area of interest, e.g. by country; sector/industry; type of organisation; group of
employees. It can also be comparative and international.
Please note, this is a hypothetical exercise. You do not need to do this research yourself, nor do you need to look for similar secondary research so that you
can write a conclusion about findings. Your conclusion will be about your research plans. You do not need to conduct a literature review for the topic in
question. However, knowing the key debates in your chosen area will help you determine the research focus.
