Part I Detailed Instructions:

Once you’ve picked a topic for your paper, begin researching and creating an annotated bibliography, which lists five annotated sources that you’ll use for Writing Assignment 5.

When searching for sources to use, make sure you assess them for credibility and ensure that you’re using sources with valid, relevant information. Try the LMC Library databases, Google Scholar, Wolframalpha and various online news sites (CNN, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, etc.) to ensure credibility of the sources you find.

Each of your five sources should be listed in APA format as you’d find them on a references page in an essay. Under each source, should be the annotation, which should be at minimum five sentences long, but the annotation for each source can be as long as two paragraphs. MORE DETAILS. My major is PHARMACY.
There are many different types of research essays out there and a few include: the persuasive/argumentative research essay, the analytical research essay, and the investigative research report. For this assignment, you will write a persuasive research essay.

To get started, first pick a topic. Select something (person, place, thing) in your field of study (your degree choice) here at LMC (see examples below). In your essay, focus specifically on this something (person, place, thing) you selected and argue whether advances in technology have had a positive or negative effect on your field of study. Writing assignment 4 is a pre-writing assignment for this research essay and will guide you in picking a topic, finding sources for that topic, and outlining your ideas.

Your goal with this assignment is to analyze the impact technology has had on your field. How has it changed things in your field? Have these changes been positive or negative or both? Has a specific something (person, place, thing) added value to your field because of technology’s impact on him/her/it?

Some Examples of Topic Choices:

If you are a photography major, you could explore the effects of digital reproduction of pictures, which has essentially replaced film. Then you could discuss how the invention of digital reproduction has changed the photography field and argue whether this technological change has had a positive or negative effect on the field as whole.
Or if you are a business major you could discuss how the invention of Microsoft Office has changed the way we compose information and process data and argue whether Microsoft Office has dramatically altered our business processes.
If you are Rad-Tech major, you could discuss how the invention of X-ray technology has changed the field positively or negatively.
Or if you are an EMT major, you could discuss how technology has created various tools and processes, which has changed emergency lifesaving and argue how EMTs tools/processes have changed the amount of people saved.
