During the time of the worldwide pandemic good service means much to clients or the patients. Only good service will improve any organisation especially the health sector. Working as nurse over the decades I have always believed in innovative service that health institutions need. Patient care always needs to be supreme although we may find that health workers work under extreme and it is not always to see innovative service implemented. .In the movie Patch Adams the main character Hunter” Patch” Adams enrolls as a doctor at Virginia Medical University but he becomes so disheartened by the manner patients are treated here. He does not humanity in the – Patch bemoans the fact that there is no humanity from those who giving treatment as well as to the patients. People need compassion, kindness, empathy, sympathy and the human face of patient care. When call patients as clients we sometimes lose their sense of being human being. We see them in terms of profit especially in private hospital environment where I work. Like all the private hospitals are driven money (profit maximization) and usually care for those who bring in money. There is a need to change the system and like Patch introduce new, innovative and unorthodox methods. In the film Patch uses humor and human kindness towards patients. The old guard does not understand him because they are more business minded rather than being people – centered. In this essay I intend examining innovative service in a similar way that Patch explored in the movie mentioned above. l underscore people management strategies for the success of my hospital.
