The final research project is really a collection of small assignments that build on each other, so it’s important to complete each one by the date indicated on the syllabus. The first assignment that will be due is coming up . This is when you need to submit your research questions for the topic you would like to investigate to the appropriate forum in the Discussion Board. In Reading Packet 20, you will find some guidance on how to develop good research questions for your topic, as well as in the Final Project module in Course Content. DO NOT leave choosing your research topic until you get to packet 20, decide your general topic a week before this so when you get to the research question assignment you already generally know what you are interested in researching. After you post your research questions you will need to go out and collect some data in order to answer the questions you posed. You should do this right away once you have your research question. The data you collect might include interview data, personal observations, forum or blog posts on social media sites, or media productions (like music videos). The kind of research question you pose will dictate the kind of data you need to collect. In general, 3-5 instances of whatever it is you are interested in looking at is the minimum number needed to begin an analysis. This does not mean you need 3-5 research questions, it means you need 3-5 pieces of data in order to answer a research question.
