All questions are to be answered “essay-style” with the appropriate amount of content relative to the points possible. Bullets, lists, and charts etc. are acceptable as well. Be sure to cite any relevant research sources (except text and course content) if necessary. Exam is worth 100 points.
1. (40 points) Using the attached HRA summary data and other resources (full report on Moodle) describe an outcome-based rewards program for this employee population that would target their top 3 areas of risk & concern. What would your preferred incentive be for this group and why (be sure you consider EEOC & ADA regulation compliance)? Be sure to include key components in your rewards program design including required steps for earning an incentive, reasonable alternative requirements, and other requirements to ensure successful engagement. How will you evaluate the success of this incentive design? Assume that this is a self-funded group that you are working with – why should a wellness program be considered a key component in their benefit design? Make the case for continuing this program for their employees.
2. (40 points) Choose one of the key health risks (obesity, hypertension, etc.) from the HRA summary report and detail a 1-year action-based program that you hope will impact next year’s risk numbers. Outline how you will go about planning & launching this program using the A.P.I.E. format for program design. Use the data available to you in the HRA report to support your assessment and strategy for this program. Describe each component’s details to ensure successful program launch, engagement, and desired/expected outcomes.
3. (20 points) Describe and discuss the key components of a successful, best in class health coaching program. Why is health coaching a good reasonable alternative for outcome-based rewards programs and why is this required? What are the limitations and challenges, in your opinion, to launching a good health coaching program?
