This week, you will explore the question of a corporate leader’s duties. Should a corporate leader only be concerned with profit maximization, or should a corporate leader also consider other issues, such as effects on workers, the community, and the environment? You will delve into this question by examining the stakeholder and shareholder debate. You may also get a chance to discuss a business ethics issue with fellow students.
o What is the shareholder and stakeholder positions on corporate leader responsibility?
o What are the arguments for and against the shareholder position?

The scenario is:
Imagine that a company that employs 1000 workers at a plant finds that it can increase profits by moving the jobs overseas. What is your view on whether they should do so, and why? Feel free to lend any other thoughts you have on the issue.
