Instructions:
A Literary Essay about The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill.
The Essay will consist of 550 words, and required a three essay structure such as:
Introductory paragraph – includes a thesis statement which gives your discussion direction and purpose.
Body – multiple paragraphs that support, develop, or illustrate your thesis (minimum3 paragraphs).
Concluding paragraph – concludes your essay by restating your thesis and one sentence on each main idea.
Consider the obstacles your novel’s protagonist faces. How much inner turmoil does he or she experience? Is your protagonist pulled in two directions by two compelling desires, ambitions, obligations, influences?
b) How is the novel’s title significant to the meaning of your book?
c) Consider the point of view of your novel. Comment on the effectiveness of the author’s choosing this point of view. Would the novel be more effective if another viewpoint were taken?
d) Discuss the relationship the protagonist has with another character in the novel.
e) Discuss the theme of the novel.
