EVIDENCE FOR SOLUTIONS. Include a short summary of the article . Be sure to give the reader information about the study in the order expected by most health care professionals.
Do not use headings for the following four items and keep most summaries to a single paragraph.

1. Study Design. (sometimes a clinical evaluation or QI study)
2. Sample description and size. In a Quality Improvement (QI) project, this is the number of hospitals or units that tracked outcomes in a run chart. The amount of time they were collecting data is also important and census information can be helpful if summarized concisely). This gives readers a sense of how “big” the “sample” was. Sometimes it is measured inpatient days, sometimes in the number of adverse events observed. The number of patients and time for data collection is important contextual information.
3. Intervention. Did the unit do a small test of change or something different to change their QI curve? Did they educate staff on the protocol or introduce a new protocol?
4. Results. Give the actual key results for the primary outcome variable(s), including before and after results. Present these the same way for each study in your paper. The variable and result statistics for the intervention and comparison (or pre- & post-) groups are presented first, confidence intervals (if any) are presented next, and the p-value is presented last. These are often all included in the same set of parentheses.
All these four criteria need to be sated in the paper.
