2- Succession Planning

Research shares with us examples of organizations who either do not believe in succession planning or do not follow through- with the succession plan initiative. An organization can reduce the effect of lost leadership through a strong succession planning program that identifies and fosters aspiring and/or next generation of leaders. Essentially, succession planning should be more than assigning a name in a box.

Your goal is to conduct a presentation that helps build/create a high-level leadership succession plan to help convince an executive leadership team and/or human resource management team to proceed forward with researching a plan to implement. Your research and presentation should include major reasons why leadership succession planning is important to your organization, team, etc.
Please research and share the findings from your research regarding:
the possible reasons top leaders and/or organizations fail to create succession plans?
identify the business case reasons for engaging in succession planning?
outline the difference between replacement planning and succession planning?
identify essential components of a succession planning program (a minimum of three)?
identify the role of the human resource team to ensure effective succession planning?
Make sure to demonstrate critical thinking and analysis. Be creative and ensure the information flows logically.
