Reinforcement Plan (Master/Graduate school level Nutrition Counseling Methods class/Dietetics Program) Pick 2 of the following situations and develop reinforcement plans to change behaviors. The goal is not to use “averse stimuli” in the form of either negative reinforcement or punishment and to realize that unwanted behaviors may need to be stopped for desired behavior to increase. 1. A third-grade teacher wants to reduce the frequency of chatter during his class and increase the number of times students attend to his comments or class tasks. 2. A business executive is concerned about the high level of absenteeism in her company and wants to increase the frequency of “productive” workdays. 3. A family wants to stop their dog from begging for food every night at the dinner table and increase the number of times the dog sits quietly during dinner. 4. A salesperson wants to increase the frequency of people who answer his/her sales calls.
