Answer one question from Section A and one question from Section B. Each answer should be between 600 and 750 words (not including bibliography).  Section A: Using concepts developed in the course, discuss the processes and forces that have shaped global inequality since 1500. Describe the mechanisms that have been responsible for growing inequality in Western countries over the past four decades. Distinguish between economic, financial, social, cultural and political mechanisms and explain how these are related. Section B: Using concepts developed in the course, discuss the causes and consequences of the Global Financial Crisis.  Discuss the following statement: “Political interventions and alternatives tend to be viable only to the extent that they don’t touch the root causes of inequality.”
