Reflective Analysis on Personal Response Essay
• Reflective analyses are self-assessments of your own writing. You will reflect on your writing, thinking, and structure of your own essay. Essentially, you will evaluate your performance on your Personal Response Essay.
Some thoughts to consider:
• This does not have to be structured like a formal essay, but if you wish to, that is fine.
• How do you think you did on the essay? Were you successful, adequate, or unsuccessful? Whatever your response, explain why. And be honest. Be fair to yourself.
• Show evidence/examples. You should quote your own essay/writing.
• How was your essay written? This is about construction: grammar and punctuation, organization, tone, sentence structure, transitions, etc.
• How was your critical thinking/analysis presented? This is about content: analysis of the literature, making connections, offering examples as evidence, etc.
• Did you write a clear thesis statement and support it with analytical points and evidence?
• Did you follow the assignment instructions?
• Etc.
