a. Why did the author(s) conduct the research?
b. What was the hypothesis of the paper?
8. Materials and Methods
c. What kind of experiment did they conduct?
d. How did they conduct it?
e. Do not use lists.
9. Results
f. What were the results of the experiment? Make sure you use plain language and do not report lists or numbers.
10. Discussion
g. What did the author(s) think about their findings?
i. Did they mention other findings that supported their findings?
ii. Did they mention other findings that their findings refute?
h. What future research needs to be conducted?
11. Write a paragraph or two that specifies what you thought of the work? Do not directly answer the below points but use them as guidelines of things to discuss
i. Was the hypothesis clear?
j. Was it nested within other work?
k. Did they do a good job on the experiment?
l. Did they use the right materials and methods?
m. Did they interpret their findings correctly?
n. Was their hypothesis rejected?
o. Did they write a cohesive paper?
p. Did the discussion cover the material discussed in the introduction?
q. Were their suggested future directions feasible? Interesting? Worth spending money on?
r. In your professional opinion, how good was the paper?
12. APA literature cited required. At the minimum, you must cite the article you read. If you include other work you should cite it appropriately.
