You may use your textbooks and outside sources. If you use an outside source, you must use proper citations for your source. These questions are intended to draw upon your critical thinking skills. You have read sufficient portions of your textbooks. You should start to put together ideas about how women may effectively use the political process to further their goals and how to run for elective office and win. Use my question number identifiers below.
1- At what level of government have women experienced the most success in running for public office? What factors explain this success? What impedes these same women from moving upward into higher office? Do women of color face additional challenges running for public office? Do women face different challenges depending upon what branch of government they are seeking office?
2- How have African American women become a force within the Democratic Party? What does the Democratic Party need to emphasize in order to retain this part of the coalition? (You may think about how Biden appealed to African-American women in 2020). What strategy should the political parties adopt to attract other women of color into the coalition? Compare and contrast women candidates’ challenges/differences in running for public office. Do women of color seek political office face additional challenges? Explain. How may those challenges be overcome?
