Instructions:
1. Read the article Flight from Conversations written by Sherry Turkle published in The New York Times, April 21, 2012. (see pdf file below)

2. Write a 2- to 3-page REACTION PAPER on this topic. Relate this article to the discussions on Local and Global Communication in Multicultural Settings and on Language Register.
Lesson 4 provides you with a discussion on how to write a Reaction paper. Here is an outline:

INTRODUCTION (1 or 2 paragraphs)
– contains the title, author, and source of the information you read

– gives a brief summary of what you read (in a nutshell)

-includes a concise, one sentence focused thesis–the thesis statement or sentence which is the focus of your reaction paper in which you agree, disagree, identify or evaluate the ideas in your thesis statement

BODY (2-3 paragraphs)
-contains paragraphs that provide support for your thesis; each paragraph has only one main idea; the final sentence of your paragraph should lead into the next paragraph
-each paragraph contains a topic sentence that supports the thesis statement
-to prove your point, provide details, examples and quotations
-relate your ideas to culture [culture of technology], communication, and language [register]
CONCLUSION (1 paragraph)

-contains a restatement of what you said in your paper; or a comment which focuses your overall reaction; or a prediction of the effects of what you are reacting

-DO NOT include NO new information
