Assignment Instructions
Final Project: Training Proposal
OVERVIEW
You are required at the end of the semester to submit a Final Project in the form of a formal Training
Proposal.
For the Final Project you will be developing a Training Proposal for the company that your work for or a
company that you admire. Your data and other information must be based on actual industry
information. The importance of industry analysis or research when developing a Training Proposal is key
to helping a company obtain its training goals. Information used in conjunction with training helps
companies to gain a competitive advantage.
Within your research, you can use data from the corresponding industry overall, or from specific
companies within that industry. Please note that the analysis should include a brief background and
history of the company along with the SWOT and Needs Analysis.
STRUCTURE
You need to format your final project just as you would format a formal Training Proposal or Business
Case for your company. Make sure your Training Proposal is structured the following way (details for
each section to follow):
● SWOT/ Needs Analysis (no more than one to two pages; must include history/background of
the organization and training problem in this section)
● Budget (no more than half a page)
● Outcomes for training (one to two pages)
● Training Outline, Delivery and considerations (one page)
● Stake holders and target audience (one page to two pages)
● Return on Investment (no more than half a page).
● Sources: Please include a one-page list of all referenced sources you use in your research.
All written commentary should be spaced 1.5 inches. The paper and sources should be constructed in
APA format. For more information, visit the APA Formatting And Style Guide (7th Edition) by Purdue
University. Also, use of Chegg’s Citation Generator will help you properly format citations for your
project reference page in APA format. Your report will be submitted in PDF Format, but save your MS
Word document as TDCapstone_LastNameFirstName

SWOT/ Needs Analysis Section
In this section you will need to provide a complete and detailed SWOT analysis for the company of your
choice. After the SWOT analysis is complete use this information to determine the training needs
analysis for the same company. Make sure to select a small to mid-size company if you are not choosing
the company that you work for to analyze. You also will need to describe the background of the
organization, as well as describe the origin of the training problem/need that exists.
Budget Section
Conduct research on the cost of developing and implementing a Training Proposal and devise a realistic
budget based on your findings. The budget should be an itemized budget outlining costs for training in
details. How much will materials cost per person? What are the costs associated with time? Will there
be any costs related to facilities? These are all examples of what will need to be addressed in the
budget section.
Outcomes for Training Section
Decide realistic training outcomes and document your findings. These outcomes must follow SMART
guidelines: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound. At this point you should have gone
over and demonstrated the ability to craft objectives in the classroom. Make sure that the outcomes tie
into an overall business strategy of the company that you decided on. Decide on the both the short-term
and the long-term outcomes for the program. You will need to identify an overall goal/objective for the
training, and more specific measurable outcomes for the training program/modules/topics.
Training Outline, Delivery and Consideration Section
In this section, you will need to develop an outline that includes the following:
1) Description of the training
2) Course/Class Objectives
3) Agenda/Timeline
4) Modules/Topics/Lessons – Lesson objectives, what should be learned, how it will be taught,
media used, tools needed, assessment method, duration of the module
5) Delivery Methods – Delivery methods can include but not limited to the ones covered in the
course or methods that you found in your research. If you use outside methods, please make
sure to document your findings. Considerations should include tools and resources that will
be used for the delivery and implementation of the program. Include materials, technology,
instructor costs. If you outsource the program please make sure that you include cost of
program, name of vendor and what is offered by the vendor, and how that ties back into the
business strategy for training.

Stakeholders and Target Audience Section
Decide who the Training Proposal stakeholders are. In this section you will decide who will be included
in the training model (i.e. Senior Leadership, HR, Technology, Managers, Trainers and Trainees). Select
who your target audience is (Leadership, New Hires, Current Employees)
Return on Investment Section
Take an overall look at the Return on Investment for the Training Proposal to substantiate the program
success and document. You can use the formulas for calculating ROI covered in class. Describe your
findings and what the data implicates.

Presentation
The creation of a PowerPoint Presentation of your Training Proposal—as well as recorded presentation
is required. Your work will be presented to the class as a shared experience—to allow you as the trainer
to receive audience response—indicative of stakeholder or employee response should you ever had to
deliver within a live organization setting. The presentation should provide a brief summary of the
proposal, how you feel the proposal will benefit the organization, and what you thought about the
process of development overall. Details on how to record and submit your PowerPoint presentation will
be provided at the start of Unit IV.
