TOPIC:
“Stolen Trust: Cell Phone Theft in a Zero Tolerance High School.
The purpose of the paper is to analyze why the issue presented is an ethical dilemma, and then to make a thesis-driven argument about which course of action the teacher in the commentary should take.

Paper should include
• Part 1: Analyzing the central problem and the values at stake. Here, you should consider: What is the central dilemma in this case? Why is this a dilemma? What values or principles are at stake? What practical and/or policy considerations are at stake? In other words, why is this a difficult decision and not an easy one?
• Part 2: Formulating possible responses, choices, actions. Here, you should consider what the reasonable choices or lines of action are for the teacher in the case. How does each of these choices frame and address the issues at stake? For each choice, what is gained and what is lost?
• Part 3: Based on the pros and cons discussed, “What should Ms. Smith do?” Why? In this section, I am more interested about how you reached your conclusion than what the choice of action is. Spend special time writing about the negative consequences of your decision. It’s perfectly fine to be uncertain and to acknowledge that. However, if you were in Ms. Smith’s place, you would have to do something (even doing nothing is doing something, in this case).
