Part I:
Directions: Open your textbook to pg. 1329-1331. Carefully read the directions about how to create a Card
Report Analysis. Earlier in the semester, we read “The Tell-Tale Heart” and on pp. 1330-1331 student writer
Carly Grace creates a Card Report Analysis for “The Tell-Tale Heart.” Carefully examine the student
sample.
Next, read “Greasy Lake” p. 356-Bolyle, and create a Card Report Analysis for this excellent short story.
You will obviously submit this assignment in Canvas, so you do not need to complete this assignment on an
index card. Simply submit your Card Report as a Discussion Forum post.
Note: if you are confused about Irony, Tone, Symbols, etc. do not panic, just give me as much as you can. I
am mainly concerned that you provide information about the Central Character, Other Characters, Narrator,
Events in Summary, and Evaluation. We’ll study more about Theme, Symbols, etc. later in the course and
add these items to future Card Reports. Avoid using any websites such as Sparknotes, Enotes, etc.
Part II:
From the list below, select and read one “coming of age” short story about childhood and adolescence, and
create a Card Report Analysis for the story you choose. At the bottom of your Card Report Analysis, write
1-3 paragraphs explaining why you chose the story.
